Trouble installing mySQL server for Windows

I am trying to install mySQL server for windows and I can't seem to initiate the installation process. The file downloads OK, but when I navigate through the menu to install it, I get an error message informing me that I have another version of the program downloading and I can't proceed with the installation process until the download is complete. The thing is that I don't have another version downloading. Just in case I hit the download button several times, I allowed time to pass for any other download to complete, but this did not help. I restarted the computer and tried it again and that didn't help. I have Windows 10 and I am trying to install mySQL server 5.7. This is an older version used in the video course. I also tried to install the latest version and got the same message.

Thanks

just install xampp and play with phpmyadmin.

I honestly never got workbench to work. My sandbox environment is phpmyadmin.

The syntax and theories will be the same. Just experiment.

bummer cant get it to do anything after download either
