Java Java Objects Harnessing the Power of Objects Throwing Exceptions

Trying to get this to work.

when i run the program i keep getting an error massage that says.... Make sure you throw a new IllegalArgumentException if the requested amount of laps would make the battery less than zero. this error starts on line 31

GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;
  private int lapsDriven;
  //private int battaryEmpty;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }
  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    return barCount == 0;
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return MAX_BARS == barCount;
  }

  public void drive() {
    drive(1);
  }

  public void drive(int laps) {
    lapsDriven += laps;
    barCount -= laps;
    int battaryEmpty = lapsDriven - barCount;
    if (barCount == battaryEmpty){
      throw new IllegalArgumentException("Battary is dead");
    }
  }
}

Hi Troy

Just like the challenge said: Make sure you throw a new IllegalArgumentException if the requested amount of laps would make the battery less than zero. Since one lap will cost one bar of battery then we can say:

IF (barCount - laps will be less than zero) THEN throw something:

public void drive(int laps) {
    if(barCount - laps < 0){
      throw new IllegalArgumentException("Battery will not be enough to fulfill your request");
    }
    lapsDriven += laps;
    barCount -= laps;
  }

I hope this will help
