<ul>Portfolio</ul>

I cant get it to recognize the word "porfolio"? anyone know why?

You need to add the items as list items and not directly inside the ul. It would look something like this:

<nav>
  <ul>
    <li>Portfolio</li>
    <li>About</li>
    <li>Contact</li>
  </ul>
</nav>
