Unable to download Laravel Homestead program from Terminal on my Mac

I am trying to download virtualbox homestead, as per the instructions in the Laravel tutorial, however, after waiting for half an hour or so while it downloaded, I received this error in my Terminal - SSL read: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0), errno 54

I am on a mac. Have you any ideas how else I might install homestead, as i'd love to do the tutorial?
