Uploading Folders to GitHub

I am wondering if there is any way to upload a folder to github. I am thinking about a project that will get more intense and may need to be nested in a folder. I watched the GitHub basics and I feel silly asking this question but I am wondering if how I uploaded content to git hub was accurate

You should be able to upload any folder you wish to GitHub. Just make sure you create it within your project root and make sure there's a file inside of it. And commit the change in the usual way.

So in the command line you could do something like

mkdir project_images

cd project_images

touch images.html

git status [to view the changes in the staging area

git add . [to add changes to your commit history

git commit -m "write a commit message"

and then finally

git push [ to upload the folder and all its contents to GitHub.]
