While I agree that the points for doing challenges and acquiring badges can be fun, it is not my ultimate goal. The end goal should always be the application of knowledge over the acquisition of knowledge. I program because it is my passion. It is something I've always enjoyed.

That being said, points are most definitely not why I help other people. I help other people because I enjoy seeing other people progress and experience success in their projects. But it's also a little selfish. I also help other people because I learn from it. You would not believe how much I've learned here outside of the courses and workshops just by helping others.

In fact, I wrote this blog article on just that subject :smiley:
