using main.temp incorrectly?

I initially attempted writing 8 and 10 on one line but pulled it into a variable instead. Am I accessing main.temp wrong or is there a problem with my setter?

Thank you!

weather.js
$(document).ready(function() {
  var weatherAPI = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather';
  var data = {
    q : "Portland,OR",
    units : "metric"
  };
  function showWeather (weatherReport){
    weatherTemp = weatherReport.main.temp;

    $('#temperature').text() = weatherTemp;
  };

});

You were close with this.

see edits below and comments for explaination.

$(document).ready(function() {
  var weatherAPI = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather';
  var data = {
    q : "Portland,OR",
    units : "metric"
  };
  function showWeather (weatherReport){
//var weatherTemp = weatherReport.main.temp; -----------if you want to use a variable you need to set this up using var. This particular quiz wont accept using a variable for the text input but this is correct in general practise.
    $('#temperature').text(weatherReport.main.temp) ; ///note the value to be input into page needs to be side the .text() brackets
  };

});

This code should no pass for you.
