var isRaining: Bool = true var isSnowing: Bool = false the ":" no longer needed

In xcode the : are showing errors. I've updated to newest version of the IDE. Is this something new thats been implemented?

There hasn't been any change to this in the latest version of Xcode or Swift. Try to see if there are other errors in your code prior to those lines you mentioned above. When you declare a variable in Swift you may do the following:

var variableNameWithExplicitType: Bool = true
var variableNameWithTypeInference = false
