var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName("last_name"); isn't working
I'm not sure why this isn't working..
var fullName = document.getElementById("full_name"); var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName("last_name");
<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head></head> <body> <h1 id="full_name"><span class="first_name">Andrew</span> <span class="last_name">Chalkley</span></h1> <script src="app.js"></script> </body> </html>

You're super close. You're using the class name of "last_name" rather than the type of element. You should be using span instead.
var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName("span");
