asking for some guidance.. not sure why this isnt working ?

varl = list('abcdet')
print(varl[5])

Your varialbe name was wrong, it's var1 (val-ONE), not varl. Also, the 2nd line of code isn't needed for part 1, it's probably better to just delete that line.
