VM Ware locks me in?

For some reason I can't exit out of vm ware if I run it unless I do a ctrl+alt+delete I can access task manager and shut it down. If I press the windows key nothing happens. I was wondering is there a way to be able to leave out of it with mouse movement or something similar? I have a z87 plus motherboard btw it doesn't support intel-vx or whatever it was asking me however I did enable virtualization in my bios settings.

There should be a host key, it cancels any control the os in the vm takes over your pc. I think default is left ctrl.
