vmin

Can anyone explain what the difference is between setting vmin:80 and vh:80. My understanding is that both will re-size the element to 80% of the viewport.

As I so often do, I defer to the master:

  • 1vw = 1% of viewport width
  • 1vh = 1% of viewport height
  • 1vmin = 1vw or 1vh, whichever is smaller
  • 1vmax = 1vw or 1vh, whichever is larger
