Was Flickr a thing in 2014, or does Treehouse just have some sort of partnership with them?

It's mentioned quite a few times over several of the courses I have taken here. Just curious.

My guess is that it is just an available service that provides free API endpoints with pictures that makes for a pretty good teaching example.

Also, it might of been a fairly popular cloud based pic store back in the day (not sure because I didn't use it).

I was never a user either, but what I heard of it made it seem popular. Is it not still popular, and is there a similar newer service that is popular today?

I've been a paid member of Flickr for years - it's a photo website, essentially. Why not just take a look?

You don't need any special partnership with them to use their API.
