Web Development in 2013

What are your thoughts on how the web will evolve through 2013. This year we've seen many changes with the expansion of the web onto many more platforms which has caused responsive web design to become way more popular. What are your feeling about the future of the web and web development?

Personally I think people place too much emphasis on the new hottness. Good design transcends mediums, in the same way that good development does.

I think a year is too short a time frame to talk about trends, a better time frame would be 5 years.

I think SVGs will become a lot more popular, due to the rise of displays with high pixel densities (i.e. Retina displays from Apple). There's pretty decent support in all the major browsers now: http://caniuse.com/#search=svg

I second that SVGs will become more popular.

Maybe, just maybe, vertical centring with CSS?

I too second Nick. SVGs will see more popularity through 2013. I also think content will still reign it's throne thus making content strategy to still be a hot topic plus Mobile first design patterns might also be a hot take.

yes, I'd love to learn more about SVG usage
