iOS Swift Functions and Optionals Functions Syntax and Parameters

What am I missing in this function?

I am basically trying to make it say "Hello Tom" whenever I call the function

parameters.swift
func greeting(person: String) {
    println("Hello \(person)")
}

greeting(Tom)

When you are calling the function, you want to pass it a string so it needs quotes around it:

greeting(Tom) //Here Tom is a variable and your code will fail.

greeting("Tom") // This will work as you are passing it a string

Quote marks around the parameter name when you call it?
