O.K forget that question, not woken up fully yet, should have realized it would be covered in the next video.

You can do web development on Windows computer but it's easier to do on a computer which runs Linux or Apple OSX operating systems. If you choose Linux, i recommend Ubuntu distribution.

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately i don't have an Apple or Linux operating system but i will bear it in mind when i can afford to upgrade my computer and will probably get an Apple.

Linux operating system is open-source, so it's free! You don't have to pay for it. You have to folow install instruction, that's all.

There are options for Windows users. Here are three apps that will set up a local development environment very similar to MAMP: XAMPP, WAMP, and Bitnami WAMP Stack. You don't necessarily have to be on a Mac or a Linux box.

I know this is a very late answer, since I just started this course myself, but MAMP Pro also has a Windows version now. I also recommended AMPPS, which I read that it's a lot faster/more efficient than MAMP Pro for both Mac, Windows, and Linux.

There is also Microsoft Web Matrix if you find all those others above complicated for you. I am also a Windows user and I've used all of the ones mentioned. So far I like AMPPS best.
