What is a practical application of the modulo (%)? Why/when would I only need to know the remainder of an equation?

That's a good question-- I had to think a little bit about the practical applications.

Cryptography
Clock math and Time calculations
Hashing
Putting/Picking items associated with random groups
Scheduling/running tasks on a cycle

Those are a few I can think of, and many more I can't.
