iOS Enumerations and Optionals in Swift Objects and Optionals Enumerations With Raw Values

What is a value in an enum?

This video made me realize my lack of knowledge when it comes to enums, what is exactly a value? As far as I understand a value is a member, an enum is a way to group several values into just one data type. But in this example the teacher saved many values in one var, but the enums didn't have any special type until he assigned values to them. So a value or member in an enum is some sort of empty box put on hold, waiting to be defined? like some kind of generics?

Thanks.
