ASCII is an abbreviation for "American Standard Code for Information Interchange", and pronounced like "Ass-Key".

It is a standardized system of using numeric values to represent letters of the alphabet, digits, and other symbols as you have on a computer keyboard. For example, the value 65 represents the letter "A".
