224,836 PointsIf you don't want to display a magnified image when someone clicks on a thumbnail, perhaps you don't need to implement the overlay mechanism at all, but that's how it is used in the video example.
Another possible use of an overlay (not shown in the vide) might be to temporarily display details about the item clicked on.
