What's with the challenge "string length" in Python Basics? It throws an error everytime. In worksp. the fct works.

This is my function: def str_len(string): if(len(string) < 5): print("Too short") elif(len(string) > 5): print("Too long") else: return True

It works fine in the workspace. I also tried to add a "try", still the same. Do I misunderstand the challenge?

strlen.py
def just_right(word):
    try:
        str(word)
    except ValueError:

    else:
        if(len(word) < 5):
            print("Your string ist too short.")
        elif(len(word) > 5):
            print("Your string is too long.")
        else:
            return True

You need to use return instead of print ie:

if len(word) < 5:
    return "Your string is too short"

There is also a typo in your first if statement

Thx Fish Soup, seems I'm not able to read the instructions... But that's better than not being able to understand them...
