whats wrong with my code

says my list assignment out of range

With del you need to provide the index of the item you want to delete. Your code is trying to delete the item at index 8 when there's only 5 items in your list. You want to delete the 8 which is at index 2.

messy = [5, 2, 8, 1, 3]
del messy[2]
