When I pause/start my video with the space bar, another video plays in the background

I think this is happening ever since Forum became Community, but I can't tell for sure. When I play a video and click the space bar to pause it, another one starts playing in the background. I only head the sound but I need to space bar again to stop it and then manually start the video I want.

I think Andrew Chalkley speaks in the video that's in the background. His first few words are along the lines of: "An important part of the learning process is learning how to ask a good question".

Anyone else got the same issue? Fixes?

Same here as well! On Mac and Windows (Yosemite/10) :)

I haven't encountered that problem, but I think the video you are hearing is the video that used to be on the side column of the old forum where Andrew gives a brief tutorial on how the forum works. I have no idea why you would be hearing that with a spacebar press??

Maybe shoot off an email to the Support Team.

Try the following and see if it happens. Start a video, click on it ONCE to pause it. Then hit the space bar two times.

Pause the video by pressing on it and not on the pause icon.

Yep... that did it!

VERY weird! And that is the tutorial video from the old forum.

Send an email to support@treehouse.com with that explanation. I think this may qualify as a glitch. :)

This has been happening to me as well. I have so far only noticed it on my laptop, running Ubuntu 14.04. I don't think my workstation, running Windows 10 has experienced this.

I also experience this running Ubuntu 14.04, might be specific to linux? I have not tested with any other operating system.

Nah it happens on Windows as well.

Same here, Mac os X 10.9.5, Chrome browser, latest version. That's really pretty disturbing, since I always pause videos with my space bar, and on Treehouse instead of just pausing it summons this unexpected sound.

same here with mac, I hope TTH resolves it soon for a smoother learning experience

Right. I admit I was a bit lazy when this happened, but since I see it had not enough attention, I contacted the support. Will post updates when I get a response.

Kristian, everything works fine now, at least for me (Mac OS 10.9.5, Chrome browser). No sudden background sound after pausing the video. Thank you!

I’m having this issue again now :(
