when I try to open Atom from the terminal I get the following message: "zsh: command not found: atom"

Hello,

Have you checked it is in your bin directory.

Type in the following

which atom

It should return something like this

/usr/local/bin/atom

If it does return that, then add /usr/local/bin to your PATH variable in your .zshrc

export PATH="/usr/local/bin"

if it does not return that, then you may have a issue with your download of atom. You can either re-download or you can manually move atom binary to your bin folder
