Design Illustrator Foundations Creating an Icon Understanding Shapes

When use the Direct Selection Tool it only moves the object around & won't let me change the shape. Why? (using Ai CC).

When use the Direct Selection Tool it only moves the object around & won't let me change the shape. Why? I am using Ai CC and can't understand the problem.

Are you using a picture (jpg png gif etc)? I know with Direct Selection tool, you can transform the shapes made in Ai, but I think if it's a picture you need to use something else to change it.

Thank you, I solved the issue by double clicking the anchor point. However when using the pen tool, my AI doesn't show the anchors allowing for greater manipulation.

Issue resolved with CMD+H to show the handlebars

I had this same issue with Ai CC. Played around and found a solution. With direct selection tool selected (no pun intended), I double clicked outside of the object and it deselected all of the anchor points. Then I was able to move individual anchor points like Mat showed in the video.
