Where do beginner JavaScript developers usually find their first freelance gigs?

I am starting the Full-stack JavaScript track after reading a few books and doing small projects. I want to write server-side apps, but when I look at postings on places like UpWork I don't really see any opportunities for javascript developers just starting out. Almost all jobs require experience working with really specific technologies or websites. So I am wondering, where would a javascript developer just starting out be likely to find their first freelance client?
