WordPress How to Build a WordPress Blog Without Coding Blogging with WordPress Overview WordPress.org and WordPress.com

Which version of WP is recommended for sites that are more educational than commercial, e.g., .info or .net?

The site I have in mind would have an educational side (blog) and then a business side with samples of my written work.

I would say an educational website would definitely do best to go with WordPress.org. A WordPress.com account is too limiting for a project of that type.

Thanks Travis, I was thinking .edu might be best!

Hi Roxanne, I think that you're getting mixed up with wordpress versions and domain names.

This is from the wordpress.org website:

"About WordPress.org On this site you can download and install a software script called WordPress. To do this you need a web host who meets the minimum requirements and a little time. WordPress is completely customizable and can be used for almost anything. There is also a service called WordPress.com which lets you get started with a new and free WordPress-based blog in seconds, but varies in several ways and is less flexible than the WordPress you download and install yourself."

So you would need the wordpress.org CMS with an 'examplewebsite.edu' domain name.

Hope this makes sense.
