Why are markdown quotes no longer supported in forum answers?

Back then I was able to simply quote something with regular markdown syntax:

This should be a quote

This used to work fine, but it seems this particular feature has been removed, using htmls blockquote doesn't do the trick either.

Quotes were a nice way of quoting (haha) tasks and assignments and make them stand out visually. Is there any reason why this has been removed?

Hmmm... I don't think this is intentional. I'm going to open an issue for it so our dev team can look into it. Thanks for bringing this up!

Also when i write, the two spaces and enter doesnt work like it used to work before to separate the sentences.

Let me try it here

Space two
Space two

It should have lived spaces between the sentences.

EDIT: Anyways, it didn't work before till now. Seem that the forum is glithy.
