Why are the comments in the app.js style sheet are affecting the code in the CSS.style sheet?

I wrote the media queries in my CS style sheet and the changes didn't show up, no matter what I did. Another student suggested to delete all comments in the app.js sheet and the media queries worked. Why? Is it a technical issue?

Maybe it's a workspace problem, try to download the code and run it under Google Chrome.
