Why do we need a scroll view here?

I am confused as to why you would need a scroll view with the signup and login pages. Is it needed for auto layout to resize to different screen sizes. You don't usually need to scroll up and now on login pages.

Was this not so that the keyboard didn't cover the input boxes? They could be moved up so they weren't covered.
