Why does xcode version 6.3.2 (6D2105) not display results in the Playground console/debug area?

I am running Swift code in the xcode Playground. The Treehouse video shows how the results of executed code display in the Results area on the right and in the console/debug area at the bottom. When I run the code nothing appears in the console/debug area. Is there a setting to control this? Thanks.
