why is it sometimes strftime and other times strptime?

What is the difference between strftime and strptime? Thanks

The difference is what type of conversion you are performing, datetime :point_right: string or string :point_right: datetime.

The strftime(format) method creates a string representing the time under the control of an explicit format string.

Conversely, the datetime.strptime() method creates a datetime object from a string representing a date and time and a corresponding format string.
