Why is the answer return barCount == 8; not correct?

and do I have to write return barCount == MAX_BARS; ?

class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;

  public String getColor() {
    return color;

  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty(){
   return barCount == 0;

Technically return barCount == 8 should work but since MAX_BARS = 8 is defined you should use that:

return barCount == MAX_BARS;

Otherwise if you later change MAX_BARS = 10, you will have to change your code in two places.
