JavaScript JavaScript and the DOM (Retiring) Responding to User Interaction Adding an Event Listener

why is this event listener not working?

I can't find the flaw

app.js
const warning = document.getElementById("warning");
let button = document.getElementById('makeItRed');

button.addEventListener('click', () => {

  warning.style.backgroundColor('red');

})
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>Adding an Event Listener</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="warning">
            Warning: My background should be red!
        </div>
        <button id="makeItRed">Make It Red!</button>
        <script src="app.js"></script>

warning.style.backgroundColor isn't a method so to set the value use and = sign not parameter ().

hope that helps

Hey there, double check the syntax on the warning.style.backgroundColor line. You're very close : )

const warning = document.getElementById("warning"); let button = document.getElementById('makeItRed');

button.addEventListener('click', () => {

warning.style.background=('red');

})
