why is this event listener not working?

I can't find the flaw

let button = document.getElementById('makeItRed');

button.addEventListener('click', () => {

  warning.style.backgroundColor('red');

})

warning.style.backgroundColor isn't a method so to set the value use and = sign not parameter ().
