Why is this incorrect?

To select the input element and assign it to the variable inputValue, I wrote: const inputValue = document.querySelector('input');

Why am I getting an error message?

Thank you!!

app.js
const inputValue = document.querySelector('input');
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
      <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
      <div id="content">
        <label for="linkText">Link Text:</label>
        <input type="text" id="linkText" value="sample text">
        <p class="info"></p>
      </div>
    <script src="app.js"></script>
  </body>
</html>

To get the value attribute of the input element <input type="text" id="linkText" value="sample text">, change const inputValue = document.querySelector('input'); to const inputValue = document.querySelector('input').value;
