why is this not accepted: for (i = 0 ; i < paragraphs.length; i += 1 ) { paragraphs[i].style.color = 'blue'; }

this work in the workspace environment, but is rejected in the course:

const section = document.querySelector('section'); let paragraphs = section.children; for (i=0 ; i< paragraphs.length; i +=1 ) { paragraphs[i].style.color = 'blue'; }

Hi there! This challenge is using "strict mode". This means that the implicit creation of a global variable will cause an error. When you get to step 2, it can no longer interpret the code as there is an error.

If you run your code through the first step, you'll see this error:

Bummer! There was an error with your code: ReferenceError: Strict mode forbids implicit creation of global property 'i'

In your for loop you can declare the variable i by using it with a let or var delcaration.

for(let i = 0; i < paragraphs.length; i += 1) {
  // your code here
}
