why nothing show up?

after i type grep this hello.txt .there is nothing show up

"grep" searches a file for a specific string.

For example, "grep cat animals.txt" will return the line(s) that contain "cat" in the file animals.txt. If it doesn't return anything when you run "grep this hello.txt" that means hello.txt doesn't have "this" anywhere in the file.
