Without more information it's difficult to troubleshoot. If you're working in workspaces, the first step would be to just close the workspace and re-open it and see if that fixes the problem.

It was in the workspace from teamtreehouse happens somewhat often i thought it was a function of the workspaces text editor that i just didnt know how to use.

I had the same issue! Accidentally pressing the "insert" button on your keyboard causes this. Look for the "insert" key, and press it and then sigh with relief.
