Will installing PHP slow down my laptop?

I notice he mentioned a desktop computer. I have a laptop. It's a new one, a Lenovo ideapad. I don't want to slow it down. What do you recommend?

Not at all, my roomie has the thinkpad and I play with it often, although I'm not a big fan of Windows 8.PHP is 1 of the lightest programming languages out there so it surely wont give you trouble as regards slowing down your laptop. Like Andrew said above if you install php using WAMP or XAMPP you can always turn it on and off

do mean installing WAMP? Personally I don't notice much if any of difference when WAMP is running. However you can turn it on and off like any other program and it's always advisable to close programs that you are not using. as a reference on my Lenovo Thinkpad (in reality what's inside is what matters, but just saying what I'm on), WAMP takes 2208k of memory when running in the background. Dropbox on the other hand is hogging 197,848k
