Wordpress Education dropped?

I saw an article that said TH is no longer supporting WordPress education. Is that true?

I personally find that a strange move considering it's one of the most widely used CMS's around. If true, please reconsider.

Going off at a slight tangent it would be great to see courses developed for the likes of Umbraco, Joomla and Magento too.

Hey Darren,

yes, as far as I know this is unfortunately true. Here is a short article on that and Zac Gordon is now doing his own thing with an upcoming JavaScript for WordPress Master Course which I'm really looking forward to. I was shocked when I first heard this and I didn't see an official statement from Treehouse yet which is a real pity because I think the students should be informed about that. I also think that if support for WordPress is dropped it's unlikely to see something in the direction of other CMS.

Whilst it's true Zac is no longer on the teaching and therefore there's little or no Wordpress content planned in the future I don't think Treehouse is completely done with Wordpress just yet. I'm still some way through the Wordpress Track so I forget he's not around for support but I do think he;s done a great job with his courses and the Treehouse track.

While not an offical statement from Treehouse on the situation with Wordpress here's a forum post from Kyle who is on Treehouse staff which explains a little more. https://teamtreehouse.com/community/were-still-teaching-wordpress

Hey Jonathan,

thank you for sharing that post, I didn't know that one before and it let's me think a bit more positive about the future of WordPress here on Treehouse! :) However I still think that the amount of content regarding WordPress will be a lot less and the content roadmap unfortunately doesn't prove this wrong.

And I absolutely agree with you on Zac, I always enjoyed his courses! :)

From what I've heard and kind of insinuated from Treehouse and the few posts regarding this topic, is Treehouse take great care in finding the right teacher to present the content. I'm confident that once they find a suitable WordPress instructor (both in knowledge and personality), the WordPress content will once again begin flowing. May be just positive thinking, but that's what I feel.

:)
