Wordpress Theme Directory

I'm working my way though the Wordpress Theme Templates tutorial and am MAMP issues. I've download the project files and directed MAMP to the folder where I've put them (drop box). I can view the site at http://localhost/tree/html-prototype/ no problem, but when I point MAMP to the wordpress folder (http://localhost/wordpress/) I get "error establishing a database connection" What am I doing wrong?

Have you created the mysql database on php my admin? If so, did you set up wordpress correctly to point to this particular database when you set it up?

Hi Liam, Yes I've created the database, and can now see the file in my browser under http://localhost:8888/ (did away with drop box to save complication). I've created a database but can't seem to get them talking. When I click on the link for the folder I still get the 'error establishing database' message :*(

Ah ignore that! I was trying to use the Project files for Wordpress, (what already have a database) instead of downloading a fresh copy of wordpress! Thank you Liam.
