wp-admin URL does not work - shows 404 error

i cannot access the wp-admin portal, the link shows a 404 error, how can this be resolved? web hosting for students is yet to resolve this issue. thanks.

I was using the one click install so not sure which directory i was using, how can i rectify this? Thanks for the response.

You might have installed WP into a subdirectory? What this means is that (1) WP is not installed at all, or (2) WP is not installed in the root directory.
