Android Projects

I agree with Illias. Please make more lessons! You do a really great job covering the foundations while giving us something practical to work on. My friends and I signed up for teamtreehouse solely to take the Android courses.

Liang Hao Zhao even though Treehouse doesn't have the largest amount of courses in Android, I'm sure we will see some more soon. New content is added on the site all the time. Although Treehouse is great for a ton of other courses, as I see you have already tried some CSS, HTML, and Dev Tools!

Thanks for the positive feedback, guys! I'm itching to get on new Android courses soon but I've been working on something else that will soon appear in the roadmap. It should give a hint as to what the next Android project will be in a few months.

I do apologize for the delay but I have lots of things planned ranging with a more thorough look at Android layouts and design to an in-depth look at location-based programming with the latest features covered at Google I/O.

I'm comparing whether I want to scale back the projects a little to focus on certain things and get content out faster, or lump stuff together into cohesive projects (similar to or maybe even bigger than the current projects). This should probably be a separate post, but I'd love to hear your thoughts if you're reading this post. :)

I personally don't like the new "projects will be released in full" idea. If there 30 videos in a series, I would like to see the first 5-10 if they are ready. Maybe release projects when they are exactly 50% done? This way it gives you time to complete the first 50% and hopefully by the time the second 50% comes out. Either way, I believe you should do an "Android Foundations" similar to the iOS lessons so that both platforms are covered on the same level at treehouse.

Amit had a significant head start over me, so I have some catching up to do! I would love to do Java and Android Foundations. Look for the former before the latter.

Feedback about whole projects noted. We've been discussing this a bit today in the office. It definitely helps us to write and record a project all at once, but after that, with editing, code challenges, etc., we have some wiggle room on how we release it. It's going to be full projects for now, but we are open to feedback and change.

My two cents is to release a project once it's like 75% done. Also, Java foundations would be awesome to have for the "Become an Android Developer" route for students. You get from me on that. Lastly, and I know I keep saying this... but a voting page for content. Students get to vote on what they would like to see/learn next! See similar

Hi Ben! Thanks for the response. Hopefully, you can roll-out more android courses soon. Personally, I would like to see the lessons as soon as possible and not have to wait for the full course. It usually takes people some time to complete each lesson anyway. By not having the full course available all at once, it gives some people a chance to re-watch each lesson over and over again until it becomes ingrained in their head.

I'm still working on your second android track but I would love to get into some more advanced stuff in the future.

Cool - hope you get it working for your personal blog! Some people have had issues switching to other blogs, so beware of this possible pitfall.

I would recommend the following in no particular order:

• Introduction to Programming (Good practice)
• Database Foundations
• Console Foundations

And then check out our Workshops for Android and the mobile design-related Interviews.

And the iPhone stuff is awesome if you have a Mac and are interested in that! I strongly recommend learning both because it really gives a great foundation of mobile development.

Great suggestion! This might be best served as an independent workshop. I will keep this in mind.

We are working on ways to provide additional exercises and sample projects for students to work on outside of the courses. We know that's an incredibly important step in your learning. Stay tuned!

I've been working steadily on the Android Track, and we have lots more planned. I'd recommend working through the track as it's the recommended way to learn since the courses build on each other.
