c# ASP.net anytime soon?

Hi, Do you think there will be the scope for any c# or asp.net projects any time soon or at all? Thanks

The problem with ASP is is much less flexible than other courses. You can develop PHP and rails on practically any computer but ASP has to be run on windows. Also ASP servers are generally more expensive than LAMP servers due to ridiculous licensing fees.

I thought this may be an issue and I agree. I noticed that all/most of the courses use open source software.

ASP will never have any significant market share because web hosts/startups have created their entire payment model around the idea of not having to pay for software.

Still though - there are a number of jobs out there for ASP.NET C# developers. I would definitely be interested in learning that technology via Team Treehouse!

There are some good courses on http://pluralsight.com but they lack the TeamTreeHouse way of doing things. That said the majority of ASP.NET C# jobs are for in house products, I imagine coming up with an imaginative product that keeps it interesting for a TeamTreeHouse project may be difficult.

I've heard a lot about PHP developers having a lesser learning curve into C# and ASP. I'm still relatively new to that level of programming, would you say that is a fair assumption though? Perhaps by working through some of the Treehouse PHP courses I could get a solid foundation in web programming?

With the release of microsoft's new text editor which is cross platform, are we going to see a course on asp.net anytime soon?

Very dissapointing that there are no c# / .net beginner courses.

I'm not going to be the one to defend Microsoft, but I think it's a disservice not to at least do a basic on (something like) .net MVC5 webAPI... Looking at the local jobs near me, approx 3/4 are php and the others are asp.net. (with some overlap)

One mention of django but that's only in the "would be nice to know".

Appreciate it's not cutting edge but it is corporate backed and it is in demand.
