How Are Teachers Using Treehouse?

For those who don't know me, I'm Zac, the WordPress teacher here at Treehouse, but before this I taught High School and College web design. During that time I used Treehouse both for myself and with my students.

I'm curious how other teachers are using Treehouse for themselves and their students?

Hey Zack, I do not know any teachers personally but I do think that more teachers should encourage students to study with Treehouse. Maybe there can be some way to get the word out there more.

I tutor for a web design course at my university, and sometimes if I'm really, really having trouble getting the student to understand the concept, I'll break out a short clip from one of the Treehouse videos because they're all really good at explaining the concepts, and I'm not sometimes.

Usually I'll send a follow-up email to the student afterwards telling them where the video came from so that if they want to they can sign up. While the course's professor is great, sometimes the analogies he uses can leave the students more confused than helped, but Treehouse doesn't have that problem!

On a related note, you guys should come up with a program like the Lynda Classroom program. If I were a teacher, I'd use it!

Hey Andy Bell! Thanks for the feedback :) Good reference for the Lynda Classroom, I'm checking that out..

Dan Ridley I agree. I think we're just beginning the process of trying to connect with more teachers who are using the app and get their feedback before we start trying to suggest it to more teachers. If you know folks who are using it, let me know!

I am an instructor and I use Lynda and Treehouse to stay current. I would like to incorporate them in to my courses one day.

Hi Greg Leibowitz! Would you be cool if I pinged you outside the forum to just get a brief breakdown of your experience?!

Sure! I DM'd you my cell on twitter.

I would love a classroom license with the ability to see how your students are progressing through out the course. The way I see it working would be the school purchases a classroom, school, or district license that is good for 'x' amount of students for the year. Teachers can add in students as they need to but can only go up to what the school purchased.

Hi Zac, any news on classroom/school license?

The following comments are about 10 years old, so I wanted to know if their is an update of any teachers or librarians using this platform in any programs.
