976 PointsIs this supposed to make sense now?
I'm in the "Make it Pretty" part of the "Build a Simple iPhone App" section. Still at this point i'm just copying whatever Amit is writing, without fully understanding it. I mean, i'm starting to understand the structure of Objective-C, but not at all what function the different parts have, and will therefore be clueless when i'm going to put this in action...
My question may be a bit stupid and broad, but, is this supposed to make sense now, or will it eventually come together in the course?

There's also an Objective C Primer to go along with that short course.

Treehouse Guest TeacherIt all depends on your background and experience with programming. That's why we have multiple projects that progressively teach you the concepts and re-iterate some of the important ones. Keep with it and I promise that by the time you are done with Blog Reader project a lot of it will start making sense. It might even help to go back and re-watch some of the stages.

976 PointsThank you for the response! I only have experience with HTML and CSS and find it very difficult to understand Objective-C. I will do as you say and keep at it. If I end up still not understanding it after the course, do you have any other recommendations for learning iOS programming? Preferably free, but i'm willing to pay if something is worth it.

Treehouse Guest TeacherI think you would benefit from learning Objective-C. Here are a couple of great books:

Treehouse TeacherAs Amit mentioned, this is one of those areas where practice and repetition really pays off. It helps to work through the projects even if everything doesn't make sense so that you get more and more of a feel for how app development goes and how the language works. Then if you do it again (or try the same things on a different project) you can really start to understand the details better. It's definitely hard and frustrating at first, but stick with it, and thanks for being a student!
