Treebook new status f.input :user_id

I am wondering how to make it to where a user doesn't have to select their name to add a new status, but instead it will use current_user as the user_id. I have tried on my own, but I have only been through the "Build A Simple Ruby on Rails Application" project. It seems very silly to require this input after establishing "should login to post status" test. Thanks
