Treehouse content download to Android Smartphone

Just purchased a Galaxy Note 2 and a large memory card, in the hoping to transfer all the Treehouse video content to it, to enable me to watch and learn, when Wifi is unavailable, and mobile connectivity isn't all that great (on a train for example). Just beginning to realise that iTunes being an Apple product that it's not going to be available to download for Android.

Has anyone had success in installing an app on their Android device to store the Treehouse content?

I'm trying out an app called 'DoubleTwist' which appears to offer a sync content to Android option, as I already have the content on my laptop.

Will report back as to whether it's any good but wondered whether there are any other proven methods to have Treehouse videos stored locally on an Android device?

I found a way using PocketCasts, an excellent podcast app for Android that I use for audio podcasts. This trick may work for other podcast apps as well.

Step 1

Snag the iTunes URL from the Treehouse Library page. View source and search for "itpc" to get the iTunes link, which is this format:

itpc://teamtreehouse.com/library/itunes/all.rss?feed_token=<long hex token>

I'm guessing the feed_token is personalized based on your Treehouse account.

Step 2

Change "itpc" to "http", i.e.:

http://teamtreehouse.com/library/itunes/all.rss?feed_token=<long hex token>

Step 3

In PocketCasts, go to the Search tab and tap on "Import Podcast". Paste or type in the URL you just grabbed and modified and tap on the Add button.

By default PocketCasts downloads the two most recent videos, and you can configure it to check for updates as often as you like. I have mine check every three hours (because of daily podcasts I listen to). You can set it to auto-download on WiFi only or over any connection

Post back here if you get this to work with PocketCasts or some other podcast app!

You can do the same with Podcast Republic, which is free :)

I can't find my token, can you be more precise ?

UPDATE:

Looks like the Galaxy Note 2 doesn't have a built in USB Mass Storage Mode, which DoubleTwist app would like to use to transfer content.

Looking into other options....

Another update:

Trying 'Easy Phone Sync'.

It works in sync'ing the folder on my laptop to the phone, via iTunes (on the PC). However, I don't see an option to sync new content direct to the phone, so you'll need to sync to the PC/laptop, say once a week, as new content becomes available (Busy little bees(frogs) down at TeamTreehouse!).

Not ideal, but it'll do...for now. Will be interesting to see if anyone else has another, better solution.

PLEASE explain in detail!

Works perfectly. Thank you!
