Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager is a key leader in the design, development and delivery of technology education. Manages one of our teams of developers and designers to execute on projects. Reports to the Vice President of Engineering. Applies knowledge and innovation to solve complex problems. Actively contributes to the company’s strategy and success.

• Manages engineering teams, providing ongoing mentorship and oversight in their day-to-day execution.
• Manages the careers of individual members of their team(s), establishing a one-on-one relationship to foster the development of talent.

• Acts as project manager and liaison for their team(s), ensuring proactive communication about project status and requirements.

• Leads development, implementation, and improvement of project management practices and methodologies.

• 5+ years of management experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience building and managing a high-performing team.
• Proven ability to manage a distributed team (both local and remote work environments).
• 5+ years of experience in the development of web or mobile software applications as a developer, designer, or manager. Experience with modern web frameworks (such as Ruby on Rails) preferred.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Comfortable multi-tasking across multiple projects, initiatives, and/or teams.
• Proven experience in the management of software projects.
• Proven track record of delivering high visibility projects on time, budget and quality.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
