Mentor/Project Reviewer

We are looking to engage a team of Mentors / Project Reviewers to support our students’ success. Treehouse has created an amazing set of educational products people are passionate about. The Mentor / Project Reviewer provides students with support and guidance to successfully complete 12 projects.

Details

• Position is paid hourly as an independent contractor.
• Weekly hours will vary based on demand.
  
• Some schedule flexibility is needed - goal is to provide full coverage within the team.

Mentor

• Interacts with students in video chats and in Slack channels

• Answers technical questions regarding coursework and projects

Project Reviewer

• Reviews and grades code assignments and provides detailed responses regarding code quality

• Experience working with at least one of the following languages or frameworks

  • Fullstack JavaScript (jQuery, Angular.js, Node.js. Express.js)
  • Java (Spark, Spring)
  • Python (Flask, Django)
  • Swift
  • Objective-C
  • Android
  • SQL

• Experience using Git and GitHub

• Familiarity with:

  • Creating and using SVG graphics in web pages
  • A front end build tool like Gulp or Grunt
  • Web Accessibility
  • AJAX and REST open APIs (like Google Maps)

• Exceptional communication skills (English language), including:

  • Active listening
  • Proven writing and editing skills
  • Professional and confident video presence

• Quick learner. Will need to develop expertise in the company's products in order to guide students

• Ability to convey technical details in an easy-to-understand and persuasive manner, for both technical and non-technical audiences

• Excellent organizational skills/time management

• Ability and desire to continually learn and grow and to help others

• Demonstrated ability to deliver results, even in a constantly changing, lean, ambiguously defined operating environment
